Children’s Mental Health Week: 2025 Know Yourself, Grow Yourself

The Importance of Children’s Mental Health Week
Every year, Children’s Mental Health Week serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of mental well-being in young people. Founded by Place2Be, a leading children’s mental health charity in the UK, this annual event aims to highlight the challenges children and young people face and promote emotional resilience and well-being.
Children’s Mental Health Week 2025 takes place from 3rd to 9th February. This year’s theme, Know Yourself, Grow Yourself, is presented in collaboration with Here4You, with support from The Walt Disney Company and the Inside Out 2 characters. The theme emphasises the importance of encouraging children and young people to express their emotions.
Previous theme have included My Voice Matter, Let’s Connect and Growing Together.
How Can We Support Children’s Mental Health?
During Children’s Mental Health Week 2025, we can raise awareness about the well-being of children and young people by encouraging open conversations and engaging in meaningful activities that support their mental and emotional health.
Encourage open conversations
Creating a safe space where children feel comfortable discussing their emotions is essential. Whether at home or in school, active listening and validation of their feelings can help them feel heard and understood.
Promote self-care activities
Engaging in activities like mindfulness, exercise, reading, and creative expression can help children manage stress and improve their mood. Encouraging healthy habits fosters long-term emotional well-being.
Teach emotional resilience
Helping children develop coping strategies for stress, disappointment, and anxiety builds resilience. Teaching problem-solving skills, positive self-talk, and mindfulness techniques can empower them to face challenges with confidence.
Encourage seeking help
Reducing the stigma around mental health encourages children to reach out when they need support. Ensuring they know where to find professional help, whether through school counsellors or mental health organisations, is crucial.
Children’s Mental Health Week is more than just a campaign—it’s a movement toward creating a healthier, happier future for young people. By working together as a society to prioritise children’s emotional well-being, we can build a world where every child feels valued, supported, and heard.
