Middle Management

There are many routes you can pursue, these include middle management and planning roles such as Phase or Subject Leaders, Coordinators and Deputy Head of Department roles.

These would invariably be supplemented to any day to day teaching responsibilities.

Your duties would include:

• Heading up the specialist area, staying abreast of any curriculum changes and maintaining the very best levels of teaching procedures
• Evaluating and monitoring all levels of progress to feedback to the senior leadership team and assistant/deputy head teachers
• To offer training and development to any teachers reporting into you
• To develop and maintain the highest levels of excellence within your specific remit

Leadership

You can choose whether you want to undertake a more strategic role where you are involved in the day-to-day running of the school or if you prefer a more of a people management role where you will be involved in managing a group of teachers.

Leadership duties can include:

• Managing the commitments of the school by delegating to managers and teachers
• Assessing individual departments developments
• Working closely with the local authority and community as well as the governors and benefactors of the school
• Assisting with recruitment needs including the management, appointment and induction of teachers and other staff
