The objective of this lesson is to equip educators with advice on crafting interactive lessons. It will introduce novice teachers to fundamental lesson planning principles and offer seasoned teachers a review of strategies to guarantee that their lesson preparation efforts yield compelling and effective lessons for every student.
This course is separated into four modules of learning:
Module One: Lesson Aims and Objectives
This module focuses on strategies for teachers to establish clear aims and objectives for each lesson, aligning them with the curriculum's overarching goals. It emphasizes how lesson objectives drive student progress and reflection, ensuring students can access and engage with set objectives effectively.
Module Two: Timings and Structure
Module Two explores utilising various activities to maintain student engagement and facilitate skill and content acquisition within lessons. It discusses accommodating different learning styles, active versus passive learning, and effective planning to promote student independence and deeper learning.
Module Three: Engaging Activities
In this module, strategies to cultivate a culture of reading beyond school are discussed, emphasizing parental or caregiver involvement in fostering reading habits. The module addresses approaches to engage parents and caregivers in promoting reading and overcoming barriers to encourage participation.
Module Four: Assessment and Reflection
Module Four highlights the importance of formative assessment for both students and teachers. It introduces incorporating assessment within well-planned lessons, focusing on low-stakes assessment methods. The module also explores how reflection during and after lessons can enhance future planning and teaching practices.
