Welcome to our program on Learner Wellbeing Awareness. This course aims to introduce you to learner wellness in educational environments. Throughout the program, we will explore the notion of learner health with the backing of theories and research on mindset. Additionally, we will discuss situations that could lead to student anxiety in educational institutions and offer advice on how to support them efficiently in your work, focusing on boosting resilience and encouraging constructive decision-making.
The program consists of five educational sections:
Module One: What is Learner Wellbeing?
This module delves into the actions teachers can take to enhance learners' mental well-being from a non-clinical standpoint. It explores the distinction between how learners feel and how they function, introducing relevant research and theories related to learner well-being.
Module Two: Mindset
Module Two discusses how thinking patterns influence behaviors, focusing on fixed and growth mindsets, The Theory of Self, and the impact of Assessment for Learning (AfL) on mindset and learner well-being.
Module Three: Anxious Moments
Module Three explores common factors in young people's lives that may lead to anxiety, especially in relation to tests or examinations. It examines how beliefs, emotions, and behaviors interact during stressful situations.
Module Four: Self-Regulation
In Module Four, techniques for teachers and schools to instill positive behaviors promoting self-regulation are discussed. The module emphasizes how metacognitive strategies can empower young individuals to take charge of their attitudes and emotions, leading to responsible decision-making.
Module Five: Getting 'Match Fit'
The final module addresses essential factors for optimizing students' performance in assessments and learning. It covers the impact of nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and routines on supporting optimal learner well-being and performance.
