This course aims to prepare individuals for cover supervision by providing the essential knowledge and skills to manage classroom situations in the absence of regular teachers.
During the course, individuals will explore fundamental principles and practices vital for effective cover supervision. From learning about the duties of a cover supervisor to discovering methods to foster a positive learning atmosphere, the program seeks to improve understanding and proficiency in addressing diverse situations encountered during cover supervision.
This course is separated into four modules of learning:
Module One: Preparing to Take Over (Part 1)
This module delves into the core responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor and the psychological readiness needed to effectively take charge of a classroom. Participants will explore classroom management essentials and the impact of the Cover Supervisor's attitude on achieving successful outcomes.
Module Two: Preparing to Take Over (Part 2)
Participants will further prepare for the role of Cover Supervisor by understanding their responsibilities in the classroom, establishing authority, and utilizing reflection tools for continuous professional development. This module emphasizes clarity on roles and responsibilities to project effective authority.
Module Three: Communication in the Classroom (Part 1)
Module Three focuses on the cover supervisor's experience in the classroom and the significance of effective communication. Participants will learn how communication influences learning outcomes and the overall classroom environment, emphasising the importance of clear communication within the learning setting.
Module Four: Communication in the Classroom (Part 2)
In the final module, participants will explore the nuances of non-verbal communication in classroom management. They will learn techniques to control and engage students using non-verbal cues, ensuring a productive learning atmosphere even with a restless or disengaged class. This module highlights the importance of maintaining an effective learning environment throughout a cover lesson.
