This course is for those in health, education, social services, police, and those working with the public. It enhances understanding of at-risk individuals, identifies risks, explores short- and long-term effects of CSE on children and young adults, and offers support strategies for those affected.

This CPD accredited programme is tailored for individuals engaged in various sectors like healthcare, education, social services, police, and those interacting with the public, especially children and young adults.

Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is a form of abuse that affects many children. This course aims to enhance your understanding of vulnerable groups, how to spot signs of CSE, the impact on children, and how to provide support to those affected. Furthermore, this educational tool will direct you to valuable resources and support networks.

Sensitive Topic! The course content covers sensitive and occasionally challenging topics related to safeguarding, which may trigger upsetting emotions. Due to the nature of safeguarding training, these subjects must be addressed. Lists or examples may be provided, such as categories of early childhood trauma like sexual and physical violence, and neglect. If a topic triggers you, feel free to exit the course and seek support as needed.

The training is structured into three comprehensive modules.

Module One: Defining Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
This module covers the meaning of the definition of CSE and providing insight into the various factors that can render children and young individuals susceptible to exploitation. It also explores the complexities contributing to vulnerability towards CSE and strategies for detecting signs of exploitation in youth.

Module Two: The Difference Between 'Grooming' and 'Exploitation'
Module Two discusses the difference between these two categories of CSE, which will better equip learners to identify possible signs of grooming and/or exploitation, including online grooming. Various grooming models and tactics will be explored in relation to CSE indicators, alongside examining the repercussions of CSE on children, youth, and their families.

Module Three: Responding to Concerns, Seeking Advice & Making Referrals
Equipping learners with resources and guidance on responding to disclosures, seeking advice when needed, and navigating the referral process. Learners will become familiar with available support and guidelines to aid their decision-making processes.
